Help › URL Shortener
The HelpingApps URL Shortener turns any long web address into a short, shareable link — and shows you click analytics (country, device, browser) for free. Here's how to get started.
1. Create your first short link
- Sign in to HelpingApps, then open URL Shortener from the home screen.
- Paste your long URL into the input field and tap Shorten URL.
- Your short link is created instantly and copied to your clipboard.
You can also tap the URL field to reveal two optional fields: a Title (just for your reference) and a Custom alias (see below).
2. Set a custom alias (optional)
By default, links get a random 5-character code. If you want something memorable — like /resume or /bio — enter it in the custom alias field. Rules:
- 3–32 characters long
- Letters, digits, hyphens (
-) and underscores (_) only - First-come-first-served: if your alias is taken, try a different one
3. Share, copy or generate a QR code
On the link list, tap the copy icon next to any link to copy it immediately. Tap ⋯ for the share sheet. To get a QR code:
- Tap a link to open its stats page.
- Tap the QR button — a scannable QR code appears.
4. View click analytics
Tap any short link in your list to open its stats page. You'll see:
- Click timeline — a line chart of daily clicks over the last 30 days
- Top countries — where your clicks are coming from
- Devices — mobile, tablet or desktop
- Browsers & operating systems
- Referrers — which sites sent traffic
- Recent clicks — a live feed of the last 20 clicks
All analytics are free. There's no paid tier to unlock country data.
5. Delete a link
Tap ⋯ next to a link and choose Delete. The link stops redirecting immediately. The short code itself is retired — it won't be assigned to anyone else.

Do my links expire?
No — links stay active as long as your account is active. There's no automatic expiry unless you set one at creation time.
Is there a limit on clicks?
No. A link can receive unlimited clicks. The only limit is on creating new links: up to 100 new short links per day per account.
Can anyone create short links, or just me?
Creating links requires a signed-in HelpingApps account. Clicking a short link is always public — anyone with the link can follow the redirect.
