Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how HelpingApps ("we", "us") handles your information when you use Notebook Ink ("the app"), our digital notebook and PDF annotation tool. It applies to the Notebook Ink web app, Android app, and iOS app.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create a HelpingApps account or sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address, a unique user identifier, and (if you provide it) your name. Passwords for email accounts are stored only as a salted hash — we never store them in plain text.
- Your content. Notebooks, drawings, and PDFs you choose to save to the cloud are stored on our behalf using Amazon Web Services (S3). Content you keep on-device (the default on mobile) is not uploaded to us.
- Usage & storage metrics. We record how much cloud storage and how many cloud notebooks you use, to enforce plan limits.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP address and request times) generated when your app talks to our services.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the app — authenticate you, and store and sync the notebooks you choose to keep in the cloud.
- To enforce free and paid plan limits (storage and notebook counts).
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.
- To communicate with you about your account or important service changes.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your notebooks for advertising.
3. Sign in with Google & Apple
If you use Google or Apple sign-in, we receive a verified token containing your email and a provider identifier, which we use to create or match your account. We do not receive your Google or Apple password. Apple may relay a private email address if you choose to hide your email.
4. Service providers
We rely on infrastructure providers to operate the app, including Amazon Web Services (cloud storage and compute) and our database host. These providers process data only to provide services to us and are bound by their own security and privacy commitments.
5. Data retention & deletion
We retain your account and cloud content until you delete it or close your account. You can delete individual cloud notebooks at any time, which removes the underlying files. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at the address below.
6. Security
Content is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with encryption at rest. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.
7. Children
Notebook Ink is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
